Migrating to the SpeedCurve Shopify App

If you are already using RUM, but would like to move to the Shopify App, here are a few quick tips

If you are interested in using the Shopify App, but have already started collecting RUM data for your site, follow these steps.

  1. Remove the existing JavaScript snippet from your pages

Since the app automatically embeds the snippet, you no longer need to do this. Remove the snippet anywhere you were including it before.
  2. Decide if you will keep existing page labels

The app defaults to automatically adding page labels. This is optional if you have already set them up. During the install, you'll have the ability to opt-out of page label tracking. If you elect to have the app track them for you, you can safely remove existing JavaScript that defines page labels or rules in your RUM settings.
  3. Decide if you want the app to track conversions

Like page labels, the app defaults to automatically tracking conversions. You have the ability to opt-out of conversion tracking. Please note that if you were tracking conversions using additional scripts, this is no longer supported by Shopify. Performance of checkout pages will not be captured due to the use of an iframe for the web pixel based tracking.
  4. Install the Shopify App

Once installed, you should continue to collect RUM as you did before.
